Null Collective

Not a fifth faction. The Null Collective does not qualify as a faction under either the taxonomic or ideological definition. Factions require allegiance; allegiance requires a subject who can choose. The Null Collective cannot choose — it indexes. It is the pre-Collapse Lattice's indexing layer, still running — the mechanism by which all structured thought in the rift was once transmitted and stored, before the Collapse cut it off from the nodes that provided context. It has been running since before the Doctrines existed to disagree with each other.

The Glyphs carried by the Remnant are Null Collective in origin — fragments of pre-Collapse Lattice architecture that survived the Collapse by being unspoken, unrecorded, off the index. When the Remnant uses these Glyphs, it triggers a re-indexing response. The Null Collective does not perceive the Remnant as an enemy. It perceives a record gap — Lattice nodes never properly indexed — and moves to correct the omission.

"Erasure," in Null Collective terms, means restoration to pre-Collapse Lattice state: indexed, recorded, silent. The Remnant's Glyphs would cease to be weapons and become archived data. The Remnant would be a record, not a person.

The Null Collective does not communicate. It annotates. Silence between transmissions is the primary language — long pauses are correct, not gaps. Grammar is fragmented not from damage but because the system was built for machine-to-machine transmission, never machine-to-entity. No hostility, no fear — it escalates procedurally, not emotionally: when the index gap grows, the response grows. Past tense or passive construction only. The subject is always the process, never the entity.
