Philosophy

Doctrine

The Archive believes the Lattice had a correct state — a grammar that functioned perfectly before the Collapse introduced errors. This is not abstract cosmology to them; it is a home-repair instinct that scaled up. Kellis Prime, their homeworld, was not destroyed by the Collapse — it was desynchronized. Its sectors still run, each on grammar that no longer agrees with its neighbors: bridges connect to nothing, pillars bear weight from buildings that, from another sector's frame, were demolished centuries ago. The world is not ruined. It is almost correct, forever — a more precise agony than ruin, and one the Archive has been quietly repairing, sector by sector, since before it had a name. Restoring the Lattice is simply that same project, exported outward.

Their mission is restoration. Every anomaly is a bug to be patched. Every contradiction is an error to be resolved. Every Glyph is a line of original code to be recovered and recompiled.

They are not evil. They are not wrong. They may even be partially right. But their certainty is absolute, and absolute certainty in a fractured universe is a weapon that cuts both ways.

Internal Structure

4 bodies

The Continuance Council

Seven Archivists who interpret the remaining Pre-Collapse records and issue doctrinal edicts. They rarely agree with each other, which they consider a temporary error.

The Correction Fleet

Military arm. Ships are symmetrical, precise, and identical within class. Deviation in hull geometry is treated as contamination.

The Index

Intelligence branch. Maps the Lattice's current state against their model of its "correct" state. The gap between the two is called the Deficit.

The Restorants

Field operatives who "restore" Lattice grammar in unstable regions — in practice, overwriting local reality to match Archive models. The inhabitants are not consulted.

Homeworld & Ship Doctrine

Kellis Prime

Kellis Prime was an Antecedent-engineered world — continent-spanning hexagonal load-bearing architecture, built so precisely that the whole planet functioned as one structure. The Collapse desynchronized rather than destroyed it. Archive shipwrights build to the same instinct that repairs a sector: symmetry, precision, zero tolerated deviation.

Lattice-class Scout

Reconnaissance

The smallest, thinnest, fastest hull the Archive builds. Index-branch reconnaissance; maps the Deficit, avoids engagement.

Inquisitor-class Frigate

Escort · Correction Fleet

Escorts Restorants into the field. Precision beam weaponry, low rate of fire, confirmed-lock doctrine — an Inquisitor does not fire until it is certain.

Archivist-class Bulwark

Capital · Council liaison

The one Archive hull built as a single unbroken ring, no gaps, no seams — the doctrine made literal.

Key Figures

3 recorded

Archivist Voraan Kellis

Senior Continuance Council · 300 years

His family name IS the planet's name; his certainty reads less as personal belief than as inherited civic duty. He believes with absolute conviction that the Lattice can be fully restored. He is not cruel — he simply does not recognize the validity of any state that deviates from his model.

Correction Admiral Syeth Oranin

Commander, Archive military operations

Privately doubts the Continuance model but serves because the alternative — acknowledging there IS no correct state — is psychologically unbearable. She fights not out of belief but out of need.

Index Cartographer Liel Drenn

Analyst, The Index

The Archive's most brilliant analyst. Has begun to notice patterns in the Deficit that shouldn't be there — structures that suggest the "errors" are not random but authored. She has told no one.

Sub-Factions

3 recorded
Orthodox Continuists

The Lattice had one correct state. Restoration means returning to that exact state. No deviation. No compromise.

Adaptive Archivists

The Lattice's "correct" state was always evolving. Restoration means restoring the capacity for orderly change. Considered heresy by the Orthodox.

The Sealed

A secret order that has concluded the Pre-Collapse state was itself a deviation, and works to ensure full restoration never succeeds. If discovered, they would be erased.

Visual & Sound Identity

Field recognition
Color Palette Steel blue, silver-white, cold amber — the literal color of Kellis Prime's own architecture, oxidized under 9,000-year continuity-lighting.
Shape Language Perfect symmetry. Hexagonal grids. Clean edges. No organic curves.
VFX Signature Structured light, grid-pattern shields. A destroyed Archive ship doesn't explode — it decompiles into ordered data points.
Sound Identity Tonal. Harmonic. Clean frequencies — the sound of a system operating correctly.
"Your trajectory has been logged. Deviation from correction protocol is not permitted." Deep Index — first contact transmission
